Qualifications and Application Information
Qualifications:
- Current/Active AIN Membership
- A commitment to AIN's mission and vision & agreement to abide by AIN bylaws and policies
- Ability to attend monthly board meetings via Zoom
- Commitment to attend AIN's annual in-person conference and board retreat
- A recommendation from the AIN nominating committee
- Understanding of the legal/fiduciary duty of the AIN Board
- Understanding of the symbiotic role of the AIN Board, staff, members, and volunteers
- Flexibility and a positive "yes, and..." collaborative spirit.
Application Information:
Some desirable board skills/previous experience include:
We welcome candidates who also have skills/experience in any of the following areas:
- Previous leadership roles in AIN or other nonprofit organizations, professional societies, civic groups, etc. and/or formal leadership training
- Understanding of nonprofit organization structures and factors affecting nonprofit sustainability
- Financial literacy (e.g., ability to understand financial documents such as balance sheet, income/expense statements, etc.)
- Organizational fundraising/development experience
- Volunteer recruitment/management experience
- Experience with digital engagement and community building (e.g., website management, use of online platforms, social media, etc.)
- Writing, editing, or graphic design experience
- Presentation skills
- Networking & relationship-development (including international relationships & networks)
- Marketing/branding/positioning skills
- Strategic planning for organizations (e.g., metric development, long-term planning, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of applied improvisation, research & scholarship in applied improvisation, or familiarity with emerging applications of improvisation
